The Council of the Law Society (England) in their annual report, state that the society has now 10,908 members, of whom 4,357 practise in London and 6,551 in the country. The number of members who joined the society during the past year is 474, as compared with 400 in the previous year. After allowing for deaths, resignations, and exclusions, the number of members shows an increase for the year of 155.
The present membership is once again the highest in the society's history, being approximately two-thirds of the total mumber of practise ing solicitors, The Provincial meeting of the society will be held this year at Exeter, opening on Monday, September 27. Next year it will be held in Manchester.
