Plans to stage large-scale man-œuvres in the northern district, by Japanese marines stationed in Shanghai to-day were reported to have been shelved at the request of the Chinese authorities.
Representatives of the Japanese Landing Party who informed the Shanghai City Government of the military games were told of the existing situation and the alarm that would be aroused among the resi dents. According to a later report "N.CD.N." Photo. the Japanese have agreed to delay the practice.
