No Cholera Incidence Here So Far

The Conimissioner of Public Health Ju his report to the Shanghai Municipal Counelt for June states that there was little diminution in the number of malarial eases notified this month when compared with May, and three deaths from this cause' were reported among the Chinese popula As Is usual at this time of the year, diseases of the respiratory group diminished, whilst intestinal diseases, notably the typhoids and dysenteries showed an Increase. No case was reported. The incidence les remained at a higher level at this period, though there were $8 less cases noti-fled than during last month.

Although it is rather early in the season, fies have been remarkably few 30 far. Mosquitoes, on the other }hand, do not seem to" have dimin-Ished "in comparison with former years, and it is hoped that the new larvicides now under trial will be ore effective, at least in dealing with the larger breeding areas.

Tt may, however, be pointed out that ifthe map incidence of the malarial cases be studied, it will be jen that, so far, they have all occurred in outlying areas, hence it quite possible that the Infected mosquitoes also came from areas not under the Department's control.
