Paris, Aug. 11.
The Ministry of War denies the report that the recently announced grand scale military manceuvres in Alsace-Lorraine near the German frontier will be cancelled or even curtailed on account of the spread of infantile paralysis in that region. At the same time it was announced. that similar manceuvres will be ear-ried out in the Alpine region near the Italian border with the Alpine regiment, mountain artillery, tanks and aeroplanes ce-operating " in action.
The opposition press condemns the latter plan on the grounds that il add to: the existing Franco-Italian tension while in regard to the mancgvres in Alsace they are characterized as "unwise and tact less" because they must inevitably hurt German - feelings.—Trans-Ocean Kuo Min.
