Japanese Bomb Paotingfu

Paotingfu, provincial capital of Hopei, was severely bombed by Japanese "planes yesterday, according to a Japanese military spokesman. Many casualties, he added, were inflicted on the Chinese troops gathered in the city.

Statements made by the spokesman indicated that a Japanese armoured train had failed to go beyond Liuliho, and that Chinese troops were still able to use the Peiping-Hankow railway from Chochow to the south, Japanese reports state that numerous trains are being assembled at Koupatien and Tinghsing for a withdrawal to Paotingfu.
