NYON NAVAL PARLEYS OPENING IN PARIS

London, Sept. 24.

The talks in Geneva between Signor Bovascoppa, Italian permanent Idelegate*to-the League, and M. Yvon Delbos, French Foreign Minister, are welcomed in London.

"Signor Bovascoppa, it is reported, stated that Signor Mussolini would be willing to give assurances not to send there Italian troop io Spain, and British circles hope that the Vital question of withdrawing volunteers may be re-opened-soon.

It is understood that M. Delbos spoke very frankly to Signor Bovascoppa about the misgivings which the maintenance of a large Italian army on the other side of the Pyrenees would create in France.

It is understood that the withdrawal of Italian volunteers from Spain was raised in the course of the talks. Italian circles in Geneva, however, deny that Italy has embarked upon negotiations for their withdrawal, They point out that Il Duce's previous declaration, that the volunteers are now under General Franco's orders, suggest that the matter should be appropriately discussed by e Non-Intervention Committee or with General Franco.—Reuter.
