Charlton Athletic are again doing well and should improve on the Corresponding game last season when they drew with Middlesbrough.
Stoke have not won an away game, and last season dropped both points at Stamford Bridge. I take Chelsea to retain an unbeaten home record. - Arsenal should have no difficulty in defeating Derby, recent transfers appear to have weakened the County. Leicester should continue to remain undefeated at home following the visit of Brentford.
The Albion won at Grimsby last season and as the Fishermen appear to be weak both fore and aft, they might repeat last season's result Leeds should retain their undefeated record at home by sending Liverpool back pointless. Preston and Birmingham might divide points, and Sunderland, Wolves, Huddersfield and Manchester City should be returned winners on current form, Shefüeld's Troubles Aston Villa lost to Fulham at home last season, but should reverse this decision this season. Burnley should defeat Luton T, and I cannot see the Wednesday gaining any points at Bradford, The Sheffield side seems to be finding it just as difficult to gain points in the Second Division as in the First, Newcastle won at Bury last season, but the departure of McMenemy to Dundee seems to have reduced the effectiveness of the Tynesiders. A draw is a likely result here, Coventry City should continue at the head of the table, the Forest have not won away from home to date. Norwich, Tottenham, West Ham and Swansea should win at home, Third Division Chances Cardiff City should break. Bournemouth's home ground record and retain the leadership of the Third Division Southern. Crystal Palace defeated Notts County at Nottingham last season, but should not repeat the performance, the County having strengthened their defence, having only lost one goal to date, Take Notts to win with ease. Likely home winners in this division are Brighton, Bristol City, Queen's Park Rangers, Torquay and Watford.
In the Northern Section the following should be returned winners.—Lincoln, Tranmere, Chester, Oldham, Port Vale, New Brighton and Rochdale, A division of points likely in the remaining fixtures, The Game in Scotland Aberdeen do not appear to have got over their South African tour, having lost six of ten games played I am going to take Celtic to win at Pittrodie and thus reverse last season's result when the Dons won by the only goal scored.
Third Lanark having secured, the services of Dewar, their old leader, might win at Arbroath. Clyde appear to have a defensive weakness, end Falkirk should improve on last season's draw and win. Dundee should defeat Hamilton, in spite of the fact that the latter's forwards are. top scoters to date, Rangers and Hearts should defeat St. Mirren and Partick Thistle respectively.
Kilmarnock have lost two of their four home engagements, and should go down to Motherwell. Queen of the South have yet to register a)win, and the Hibs' away record is not impressive. A draw might result here, The two promoted Clubs meet. and Ayr might win as Morton has yet to win at home.
The fixtures for to-day are as follows, possible winners being shown in bold type:—
