Share Market Report: (Up to Friday noon).—Another week of almost complete [dieness was experienced on the Stock Exchange. A few small transactions were recorded in Shanghat Power 5¢% one small lot of "Wharves and 1,000 Shanghai Lands. Positions which were open and due for Settlement in August are gradually being liquidated, so that eventually when conditions show signs of returning to normal most brokers will start with a clean slate. From observations of the local fighting by the man in the street there does not appear to be much change. The Settlement is still rocked from time to time by bombing and shell fire and every day further casualties in the Settlement are recorded. There has perhaps been a little more movement ju the shipping world. This is all to the good, if only a wider movement of steamer could take place cargo wilt once more be in transit and money in circulation. The greatest bar to trade, however still continues with the moratorium of Ohinese Banks and it is indeed surprising that the power that be allow this position to continue.
