No Question of Format Present Berlin, Jan. 4.
In connexion with a report from New York to the effect that the banking firm, Messrs. Dillon, Read Ca, are planning formation of German-American steel trust, it pointed out that there can be no question at present of forming such a trust because no German. steel trust at present exists. It is believed, however, that Messrs. Dillon, Read '& Ca. who themselves ows steelworks in America, are prepared te finance German steelworks with] big loans, so lack of capital can no Longer hinder formation of a trust composed of all the principal German steelworks, except those of Messrs. Krupps, who are adverse to Joining therein. Should this trust come into being it is expected that will enter into close business relations with Messrs. Dillon, Read Co's, steelworks without necessarily forming a German-American trust.
The amount which Messrs. Dillon, Read & Ca. propose shall be place: at the disposal of the German trust when formed has not been disclosed, but it is understood that German steel magnates have been trying for some time to negotiate a loan in the United States of £25,000,000 to £30,000,000.—Reuter.
