The Osaka papers report that Japanese women have made yet another encroachment on the preserves of the other sex. Duri the months of August and July thi year, they say, lecture meetings, open to all, were held under the auspices of Marine Products Expe mental Societies, and as the rest of an examination held afterwards, eight women were among the 215 who passed. Three qualified as captains of schooners of less than 30 tons and one as chief engineer of motor-boat of 50 horse-power.
