Massed Reply to Rosenberg Publication Berlin, Nov. 7.
The religious warfare in Germany entered upon a new phase to-day if with the publication of a manifesto, signed by 96 leading pastors, containing pointed questions addressed to the people and the Government.
The manifesto is regarded as a reply to a publication by Dr. Alfred Rosenberg, whom Herr Hitler recent-cly awarded a prize for cultural hievement.
The document quotes a number of sages from the publication, and declares that Dr. Rosenberg wants Germans to cast aside Christianity and desires to replace it by a political church of National Socialism, 1 "Are you willing," the manifesto asks the people, "to testify that Dr. Rosenberg's pronouncement is anti-Christian?"
"Are Christian churches," it further asks "to be memorials of beautiful art, like the temples of Zeus, or houses here the Gospel is preached without reachers being regarded as traitors?"
