New York. No The current European liquidation of dollar balances, which is resulting in a jump in foreign currencies, is expected to entail further losses of gold from the Stabilization Fund under the Tripartite Agreement, So far, however, such losses have been compensated by imports of gold, notably from Japan.
According to the weekly gold statement issued yesterday, imports totalled $12,413,000 while exports were nil. However, it was disclosed that the increase in monetary gold stocks was only $3,000,000, thus indicating a secret outflow of gold to Europe, amounting to $13,500,000, after considering estimated receipts of $4,000,000 from newly-mined and scrapped gold.
A careful survey of the situation shows no indication on any outward movement of American capital Reuter.
