The little New Year Race Meet ling which has developed out of single race that used to be hei some years ago becomes more popular every year, The paddocks and stands at the Shanghai Race Club Jon Saturday were packed as for a [Champions day and the races. being thrown open to members of all three clubs there were big fields for all the six events. No-one secmed to regard the racing very se: ously, and it was more an ocean sion for good-humoured banter all the time, whilst many of the placings bore' no relation to form, and the times were a long way behind what they should have been on the going.
