The New Year's and Boxing Day Hunt

The meet of the Paper Hunt Club on New Year's Day took place at! a spot beyond the Third Bridge on the Minghong Road at 3.30 p.m., and though the promise of rather heavy going was in every way fulfilled, the number of riders in attendance was unusually large, Prominent, among those who turned up were two old stagers in the persons of Messrs. George K, Dallas and P. W. Massey, both of whom, in recent} years, have been classed, perhaps; prematurely, among the "has beens." The paper was Inid by Messrs, H, Tiofenbacher, N. Sparke, J. V. Botelho and i. Soyka, and the route taken was largely in new country, without names, so that it is hardly' possible to record detail the Various points taken. The first part ofthe run, however, was in familiar country, being the long. Tine of jumps at the back of the Big. Tro Temple, usually traversed on. the run which finishes at Billy; Coutts's Line.

Riders and ponies came in rather wearied with the heavy going, and most of the ponies dropped their! hind legs in the water jump. Mr. Hugh Maitland, on Prince Chester (late Chesterfield) won the hunt by many lengths, ant then came a. "der less pony, who, however, refused the last jump." The second on the card was Mr, E. B, McBain, on Captain Cuttle.

The card read here was 10 heavyweight winner, follows:—

Mr. HI. Maitland, on Of, Bremner, om Davis Magen on ight Boy
