A cloudburst caused considerable property damage in the Jacksonville rea to-day and brought about the failure of an attempt to establish new world's endurance flight record for aeroplanes not refuelled For 73 hours a Bellanca, monoplane had droned monotonously over Jacksonville. A few hours, more in the air, for which the plane had ffcel, would have been sufficient. to have established 2 new record. But the advent of the storm-the Pilot of the Bellanca, plane, was foreed to descend short of the record, "On. its non-refvelling endurance flight, the plane. was powered by a new Packard Diesel motor, a {ype which ig being tested im the United States for the first time, Although she was aloft when the cloudburst deluged Jacksonville the plane was not damaged, - Her plot Suceeded in effecting a safe landing.
