Belfast, Feb. 10.
Ulster elections resulted to-day in a complete victory for Viscount Craigavon, the Prime Minister. With four University seats outstanding, the state of the parties is now:—
Unionists 35 Nationalists 8 Independent Unionists 2 Labour 1 Labour 1 Independent 1 Viscount Craigavon, in commenting on the results, said that the election was fought on the direct issue of Ulster's position within the United Kingdom and the Empire.
Mr. Eamon de Valera, the Prime Minister of Eire, had again presumed to raise that issue with the Eritish Government," he declared, "and had placed the unification of Ireland as item number one in the programme of his conversations at 10 Downing Street. The result of the elections, however, wiped that item off his agenda."
Viscount Craigavon added that it was now clear, beyond all possible doubt, that this talk of United Ireland was just another "will-o'-the-wisp."—Reuter.
