Dr. H. H. Kung on Strength of China's Finances Paris, Aug. 8
Negotiations to grant "China large credits have now reached an advanced stage, it was understood, as the result of conversations between the Chinese Minister of Finance, Dr.
H. H. Kung, and French officials.
Dr. Kung' to-day told the United Press, "It is a remarkable fact that In spite of Japanese aggression, Chinese currency continues stable, proving not only the financial strength of the Chinese government, but also, the confidence of foreign nations in the future of my country.
"I believe that if a major conflict develops and lasts a few months there will be notable developments in Japan, not only because of the financial drain upon the exchequer but because the Japanese people will realize that the suicidal policy of a group of young militarists is proving a costly burden upon Japan without returning comparable economic benefits.
"China is as strong financially as Japan, and can stand war, if it must come, Consequently, China in not pessimistic regarding' the outcome of events in North China," Dr. Kung concluded.—United Press.
