Berlin, Aug. 7.
The monthly settlement, passed smoothly, private discounts and other first-class accommodations being offered in normal amount. The Reichsbank was not overburdened.

On the other hand the postponement by some years of the repayment date might be more welcome both to debtor and creditor, The fixed interest securities market which was exceedingly animated till a week or two ago, has grown steadier as most inva: ments are now near parity. The business on the share market remained dull except where measures to the food supply or the increase of the iron ore, production in Germany from home ore directly influence the companies concerned Bank shares have been in favour with investors because they seem to offer a better credit security. Both in the case' of the Commerz & Priyetebank and the Dresdner Bank large quantities of shares have recently passed into private hands again.
