London Silver Market

London, Mar. 2.

Messrs, Samuel Montagu and Company, in their weekly bullion letter, write:—The silver market ruled quiet during the past week, with only small movements.

The fact that there was no reduction in the Indian silver import duty seems to have occasioned some disappointment in the bazaars, as Indian selling followed the Budget announcement; whereas, previously, this quarter had shown some disposition to buy.

Selling, however, wag not pressed end, with bear covering and purchases in evidence, offerings were absorbed without much difficulty, The undertone, at present, is steady, and no wide change expected in the near future.—Reuter.
