The interest excited in the Bradlaugh-Besant trial is something remarkable. It has been quite the talk of the day, in clubs, on railways and steam boats, everywhere, in fact, It is generally admitted that the prosecution of the interesting couple was an exceedingly ill-advised one, for has done more to revive an interest in the population question than could have been ac~ complished in: a life-time of ordinary agitation. At the Hall of Science, where Bradlaugh and Annie Besant received an ovation on Sunday night, the Fruits realized 2/6 a basket, a copy, I mean. In spite of highly aristocratic patron age, it is doubtful whether the Orleans Club at Twickenham will prove financially successful. It is recruited for the most part from the White's, the Marlborough, and the Turf Clubs, and there is a talk about amalgamating the last two. Captain Wombwell is hon, sec. to the Orleans. He is brother. of Sir George; hence the club is facetiously designated Wombwell's Menagerie.
