Armed Robber Raid

One special feature of the riverside districts of Hankow is the houses where the dealers from distant provinces stay when in Hankow. They are well-known by name right away up the reaches of the Yangtze, and are regarded as more suitable for business purposes than ordinary hotels. Last night a band of eight armed men suddenly rushed nto one of these—guest-houses, closed both front and back doors, and herded all the occupants into'

room. The band then ransacked the place and got off with more: than $1,000. It is evident that the armied robbers are becoming more and more bold as the risk of an alarm being given from some unknown exit or from an upstairs window must have been great.
