Reports recently circulated to the effect that Chang Hsueh-liang was coming to Hankow in order t$ receive a Government appointment are discredited here. Actually, the position of "the young Marshal" is wrapped in mystery.
After the denouement of the famous Sian affair at Christmas, 1936, Chang Hsueh-liang was conveyed to Hsueh Do-shan, where he lived under armed guard in the rest house of the Caisse des Oeuvres China Travel Service, opposite the Hongkong & Shanghai famous Buddhist temple in this Corporation
