U.S. COMMODITY MARKETS Monday's Closing Quotations

New York, Sept 20.

The cotton market early made new lows for the season, with increased hedge-selling being offset by trade price-fixing as well as Bombay and Liverpool buying on differences, The weakness of the stock market was a further unsettling influence, and the market finally closed barely steady, with quotations ranging from 9 to 11 points down, After easing on commission house liquidation, disappointing cables and the weakness of the stock market, the rubber market later quietened down and steadied on dealer support on the decline. At the last call-over losses of 12 to 17 points were recorded.

Wheat prices in Chicago declined on the easiness of the securities and Liverpool markets, beneficial moisture in parts of the Argentine and a limited week-end foreign interer, Later, the market steadied on mill buying and the smallness of the visible increase. At the final bell, gains of 1% to 1% cents were registered.

The sugar market advanced on trade, commission house, producer and outside buying on light offerings and steadier London advices. At the close, quotations for No. 4 contract were 1% points up.

With the action of securities overshadowing the comparative steadiness of cables, there was moderate nervous liquidation in the silk market to-day, which disclosed poor support. The trade and shorts bought on the decline. Closing quotations were from 1% to 5 cents down—Reuter.
