In the breast stroke, H. Aust, and from appearances this swimmer will go well towards regaining his title this season. R. Purches, of the Marines, displayed good style to win the backstroke event, while Wagner, of the Rowing Club, a newcomer to local swimming, seems capable of doing good things this season. C, N. Brown, who has been. in the forefront of swimmers for the past ten years, won the 50 yards record time, clocking 258 sec. for winner, fighting it same Rowing Clab swimmer also won the 100 Yards event in 64 sec.
Shapin won the 220 yards in fairly good style, having none to press him, and the time was not. Impressive. The relay was rather disappointing as the Marines won. fairly easily but were disqualified on account of one of their men going off before he was touched.
