Three Chinese, believed to be members of a notorious kidnapping gang, were taken into custody by detec: tives of. the French Concession Police, assisted by the Shanghai Municipal Police, in a Chinese lodge ing, house on Aug. 21.
Acting on information, the French police, from Avenue Joffre Station, visited the Pao Ho Lodging House in: Canton Road, at about 9.30 a.m. and at once entered room No. 1 where three men had congregate Anticipating a struggle, the detectives wore steel vests and entered the room with pistols ready for action but apparently the men failed to put up any resistance when called upon to surrender. They were quickly placed in irons and takes to the Avenue Joffre Station.
'The three men, according to the manager of the hotel, had registered themselves on the: 14th instant under the names. of Li Tz-ming and 'Wang!
