New Arab Higher Committee

Jerusalem, Oct, 19. The curfew order, enforced on Oct.

15, was rescinded to-day, indicating that the authorities regard the situation as greatly improved.

For the attack on a police station and the theft of rifes and ammunition, the village of Dzharia has Leen fined a sum of £2,000 and a number of houses corresponding to the number of rifies stolen have been marked for demolition. One house will be exempted for every rifle returned.

A train from Haifa to Egypt narrowly escaped being wrecked near Gaza to-day when a land mine was found under the permanent way.

A new Arab Higher Committee is being formed in Syria, according to Arab sources in Jerusalem.—It will be formed of refugee members of the old committee in addition to five Arab Nationalists from Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.—Reuter,
