Rifles Unlucky

After the centre pulley the Rifles attacked strongly and had the Loyals defending bitterly. Two shots hit the keeper's pads and a third rickochetted off the post. Only thorough bad luck prevented a scoring shot. The ball was transferred to the other end and Cronin gave Cole a pass which whizzed into the net. With the score 3-0 and the game nearing its end, play slowed down considerably. There had been no further addition to the score when Drum-Major Hale, of the Loyals, and Cpl. Boyd, of the Royal Ulster Rifles, blew finale on the umpires'. whistles.

In a practice match earlier, the Area Details beat the Royal Welch Fusiliers 3-2 in a rather patchy game. The goal scorers were:—Area Details (McMullen, 2, Robinson, 1); R. W. F. (Robins and Dulett).
