Manila, June 8.
Int. Mayen, the 8274-feet-high volcano in Alba province, which has been in eruption for the past few days, began to roar more ominously at 730 this morning, and a slight earthquake was registered in the surrounding area.
Father Miguel Selga, director of the- Weather Bureau, who yesterday announced that the eruption was not explosive and entailed no danger to life, today expressed the opinion that the eruption may become worse.
The authorities state that everything is under control. The 20,000 persons who have evacuated from endangered areas surrounding the volcano are now concentrated in refugee camps, but food is scarce, and preparations are being made to rush adequate supplies.—Reuter.
