Franco Agrees To Despatch of Enquiry Commission San Sebastian, Nov. 21.
General Francisco Franco, Nationalist commander-in-chief, has accepted in principle the proposal of the Non-Intervention Committee to send a commission of enquiry to both sides in Spain in connection with the withdrawal of volunteers.
A note to this effect was handed yesterday to the British representative here. It is understood that the document makes certain reservations and asks for; a further elucidation on some points.
Meanwhile, reports that the Soviet Government is withdrawing all Russians from Spain are ridiculed in Barcelona. A Government official, interviewed by Reuter, stated that there had been no Russian regiments in Spain. Russian airmen, he said. earlier in the war flew planes, but now the Republican air force wa entirely manned by Spaniards.
It was not disputed, he added, that some Russians were fighting in the International Brigade, which included many different nationalities.—Reuter.
