Trading was moderately active in the cotton market, with prices early advancing on higher foreign cables, Liverpool and Bombay buying, the strength of securities, increased textile activity and unwanted rains in the eastern belt. The upward movement, however, met considerable realizing and local and New Orleans selling, which, however, were well taken up. At the close, quotations showed gains from 8 to 10 points from yesterday's final levels.
Rubber prices advanced further today on the firginess of London and Wall Street, dealer short covering, akron buying and a speculative demand. Later, the climb was blocked by heavy profit-taking. Meanwhile, primary offerings are very small and at very high prices. At the last call-over, gains from 19 to 22 points were recorded.

In the silk market aggressive short covering and a {fresh ' commission house demand were inspired by a revival of speculative interest in all markets, but sellers were cautious and few. Finally, some importer pressure was applied to distants. At the close, gains from % to 2% cents were recorded.
