A Statement Corrected

New York, June 25.

Without referring to the President but apparently aimed at President Roosevelt's speech, the United States Steel, Corporation today announced that ^no official of the United States Steel Corporation has given any assurances that wage reductions will not follow reductions in the price of steel."

The President in his Chat" yesterday said that "a great steel company has announced reduction in prices with a view of stimulating recovery. I am gratified to know that the reduction does not involve a wage cut."

The announcement by the US. Steel Corporation, however, spiked the reports that Mr. Edward R. Stettinius, Chairman of the Finance Committee of the U.S. Steel interests, had assured the President that his corporation was not reducing wages."—United Press.
