Noted Pilot and Crew

The pilot of the ill-fated Samoan Clipper was Captain Edwin C. Musick, who was not only the flyer to pilot the maiden flight of the Pan-American airliners across the Pacific, but also the pioneer in charting the route and making all arrangements for the flight.

Captain Musick was in command when the Samoan Clipper made its first regular flight to Auckland, New Zealand, from Honolulu. He piloted the airliner back to its Hawaiian base early this month.

Other crew members -believed dead included C. G. Sellers, first
