Leaves Shanghai

The departure of a special Chinese unit in the Settlement and the French Concession was widely reported in Chinese press Circles yesterday, but the publication of the report was banned by the Japanese censors. Only foreign-registered Chinese newspapers were able to publish it.

The unit, according to these circles, was attached to the Kiangsu-Chekiang Special Corps of the Military Afairs Commission, While the Corps employs guerilla tactics in attacks on the Japanese, the special unit stationed in the two foreign areas only concerned itself with the suppression of activities of traitors.

On January 26, the Japanese censors issued notices to Chinese press, asking them not to publish any report of the departure of the special unit. On the following two days, explosions of cigarette-tin bombs were reported in the French Concession and in the Settlement.
