London, Feb. 15.
Great Britain was watching the results of the new United States policy and would act accordingly if a considerable change in the exchange value of the dollar occurred as a result of it, declared the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir John Simon, in the House of Commons to-day in reply to a question regarding the decision of the United States Treasury to limit its gold sterilization operations to sums over $100,000,000 acquired each other, "The view which underlies the announcement, as I understand it," the Chancellor declared, "is that it is desirable, in the present conditions, to modify arrangements which may have, or be feared to have, an inflationary tendency and so act as a brake on business activity.
"With this view I cordially agree. I would add that the measure announced is in line with the general Policy of easy credit, which I have hitherto regarded, and continue to re-gerd, as appropriate to this country."
