Why He Overthrows His Superiors: An Error in Judgment The prevailing state of regional:
ination by militarists is the: chief obstacle to a successful solution of the national crisis, according to Mr, Wang Ching-wel, in the course of a statement issued' for National Independence Day. Mr. Wang points out that the existence of such a state of affairs has rendered -it impossible for the Government either to carry.out a policy of armed resistance oF to achieve zeal national unity. As a panacea for the present situation, Mr. Wang Suggests, firstly, that the public opinion of the nation be mobilised and brought. to bear upon recalcitvant militarists, and. secondly, that all enlightened military. lead: ers should place their military force at the disposal of the Party, and the Government. The following 'a brief summary of Mr. Wang's statement:—
'There are, to my mind, two possible measures of coping' with the present national crisis, Ili the first place, we should, rewardless of consequences, put' up armed resistance against our gummy to the utmost of our ability. We should never give up an inch territory without a struggle. White we may, eventually lose the territory at stake, we shall do so only after it has been smeared all over with our own as well as the enemy's blood. Such a policy will have the following results:
Owing to the immense alf bation and the pacifiste in Japan will begin to assert their influence.
2 As such a policy would inevitably result destruction of ternational trade with China and, moreover, with the enemy thus held at bay,' the various interested Powers would be more likely to inmit temporarily to' -foree but to strive patiently for regeneration.
