O mark the recurrence of their national festival, local Welshmen gathered at the Union Church yesterday morning under the auspices of St. David's Society of Shanghai for their annual service in honour of their patron saint—a service with which was linked ihe observance of Bible Sunday, in token of the Welsh origin of the movement which eventuated in the foundation of the British and Foreign Bible Society. The preacher was the Rev. W. H. Hudspeth, secretary of the British and Foreign Bible Society, who reminded Welshmen of the achievements of their countrymen in the history of the past, and made a very earnest appeal to them in their respective walks of life to lift aloft the standard of international justice and righteousness.
