St. David's Day

Welshmen all over the world will to-day be honouring their Patron Saint, and the Daventry programmes this evening will include broadcasts not only from North and South Wales, tut also by Welsh singers in Johannes. burg and London. It would appear that there is more than a grain of truth in the saying that even if two Welsh.nen were wrecked on a desert, island they would form a male-voice choir! From Bangor, North Wales, listeners will hears a programme of traditional Welsh music. The singers will be Henryd Jones and Dilys Wynne Jones, while Nansi Richards Jones will play the harp. Henryd Jones, who is a gardener by occupation, showed at a very early age that he had a remarkable voice. He used to cycle all the way from Conway to Wrexham—nearly 48 miles—for singing lessons. He has twice toured Canada and the United States as a soloist. Dilys Wynne Jones is a well-known Welsh soloist who also conducts the Caernarvon Ladies Choir. Nansi Richards Jones can play the old Welsh triple harp and has given Command Performances before the Royal Family.
