Washington. Mar. 3 The House Naval Affairs Commit-tec to-day returned a favourable report on the $1,000,000,000 Vinson Naval Expansion Bill which would increase the strength of the United States Navy by twenty per cent. and provide huge appropriations for experimental work in aviation.
The Committee earlier gave overwhelming endorsement to President Roosevelt's defence policy and urged the granting of complete freedom of action to the Navy at the discretion of the President.
The Committee àlso rejected an amendment to the Vinson navy bill which would have required the immediate withdrawal of all naval vessels from China, specifically limiting operations of the United States Navy to the area cast of a theoretical defence line in the centre of the Pacific. Similar limitations would have been imposed on fleet activities in the Atlantic.
