Every Ounce

He rose gamely and tried hard but was badly battered by his stronger opponent. Realizing that only a knockout could save him from defeat, Jurich threw every ounce of his fast waning strength into the fray and went after his man with his guard down but his fists failing.

He put up a grand showing and was greatly applauded, but Kane was too fresh and clever to be trapped and he cut, hooked and jabbed with great effect. The final two rounds of the fight were the fastest and most furious of the night. Both received a great ovation for their fine battle. The American was given almost as big a hand for his courageous and fighting stand as was Kane for his victory.

At the weight-in both fighters made the-limit for the fifteen-round bout.

The American weighed 109 lb. and the British fighter, 111 lb. Jurich was quoted a 7-5 favourite to beat ihe English fighter after fans saw his clever punches in his workouts.—United Press.
