'The United States Lawn Tennis JAmateur Rules Committee an-Inounced to-day that investigation of Ellsworth Vines' amateur status revealed that the amateur rules had Met been violated, The committee said that Vines Iliad not made either a written or loral agreement to turn professional although he had initiated discussions regarding that, possibility, which, in their opinion, had not constituted a violation of the rules.
