In port yesterday was the Lloyd Triestino s. Conte Biancamano which arrived at about 7 am. and berthed at the Shanghai & Hongkew Wharf. The liner is due to sail on her homeward voyage at 9 a.m. to-day. Tenders conveying outgoing passengers wil leave the Customs Jetty at 7.30 am. Not long after the Conte Biancamano arrived in port, the veil-known lines of the P. & O. s. aissor-I-Hind began disappearing town river—few who saw the famous id liner pull away realized that they night never see her again. This may ye the Kaiser-I-Hind's last voyage, out in any' case it is not likely that she will ever be seen in these waters again. Either she will be broken up, lor, so the rumour goes, she will be eorverted into a troopship.
The Kaiser-I-Hind was first put unto commission in 1914, and almost immediately she was commandeered, together with the remainder of the P. & O. fleet, by the British Government for war service. In common with other British merchant vessels during the Great War, she had her fil of exciting experiences and adventures. After being "demobilized" n 1918, she was put on to the Far eastern run, and since that date has seen a fairly regular caller at shanghai.
The Kaiser-I-Hind was flying a pennant 22 yards long from her after masthead yesterday morning as she sailed away down river. The pennant was triangular in shape, and bore the colours of the P. & O. It signified the 22 years' service which the liner has now completed.
