The speech was several times interrupted by shouts of "Send Innitzer to the Dachau concentration camp."
After the address a crowd, numbering 20,000, went to Stationplatz, carrying banners inscribed: "We want to see Innitzer hanging here."
Another demonstration occurred in front of the Cardinal's palace, where the crowd yelled anti-clerical slogans.
Cardinal Innitzer, whose residence was stormed by rioters last Saturday, is not being held a prisoner in his palace, according to a message issued by the official German News Agency.
The message adds: "The Cardinal, because of the indignation against him among the population, asked if watch could be kept for his personal protection. At his request, a guard was placed in his palace in St. Etienne Square, Vienna."—Reuter.
