St.—In writing your leading article of this morning. you have entirely overlooked the fact that the overture to the drama which you have entitled "Danse Macabre" was composed by a number of collaborators of the Allied Powers at Versailles, St. Ger-maine, Trianon, Neuilly atid Sdvres in 1019 and that this composition fs. 30 full of discords and is, in ite struck ture, so unbalanced that the developments of the play which have fol-Jowed it could not, to sane observers, bbe any different than what we have. in the past 19 years, seen unfolded before our eyes.
The disruption of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy was willed by the Allied Powers, in order to pay satellites "for services rendered," and it is not for them (o complain i¢ the inevitable" consequences of paralleled political blindness Assert themselves. is, therefore, tragi-comical if those who dictated the Treaties above named by force, now complain that a change in the map of Central Europe has Deen brought about by the same means. This 1s in the nature of the Kettle calling the pot black.
'Austria' is, as was the case before' 1966, back in the Reich again. Conditions are different of course and ya! in a sense, they are parallel. The Austrian Dynasty of the Habsburgs ruled the Reich for centuries and the Austrian Adolf Hitler will rule it how. In a Way" of looking at things, Austria hay reconquered the Reich.
