Honour for St

ANDREW'S Scots President Guest of St. George's

Appropriately the Committee of. the Royal Society of St. George resumed. their monthly Juncheons. on Thursday with Mr. C, W. Porter, the rebring President of the St, Andrew's Society, as their guest of Mr. R, M, J. Martin, in proposing Mr, Porter's health, referred to the long residence in' Shanghai, the manifold sporting and social active ties and other public qualities of the Committee's guest. Mr. Martin was prepared to credit, Mr. Porter with great skill at billiards, but at golf 5 prowess less than the speaker's own. That made it regrettable that, the last fater-society match, Mr, Porter could not play and consequently Mr. Martin had to meet and beaten by a substitute, with the result that the Cup left St, Georg for Scottish haunts, If Mx. Porte had played the Cup would have been front of him that day.

It should be added that this me sinuation was bluntly rejected by Mr. Porter when he arose to make a graceful reply, Indeed, Mr, Porter hypocritically sympathised with St, Geoge's in the curtain prose tunable to change the resent habliat of the Cup at, the next clash of niblicks.
