"That is merely the opinion of the "Kokumin'," said the spokesman of the Foreign Office when asked this morning about the assertion of the newspaper deprecating the British Ambassador's influence on international relations.
Opinion is gaining strength among various quarters" the "Kokumin" wrote, "that Sir Robert Craigie has not contributed anything towards the betterment of Anglo-Japanese rela-ons since his arrival here more than z year ago, and that he should be recalled from Japan."—Reuter.
