London, Nov. 9.
The Minister of Health, Mr. Walter Elliot, has announced that the Government will introduce a bill during the present session of Parliament for the establishment of cancer service.
It is hoped to make available modern facilities for diagnosis and treatment over the whole of England and Wales.
The mortality rate from cancer, according to Mr. Elliot, has been rising steadily for mary years. It causes nearly 70,000 deaths a year in England and Wales alone, and an incalculable amount of suffering.
He said that he regarded it as a matter of urgent public necessity that the Ministry should make a sustained and organized attempt to deal with the problem on the broadest national lines, The existing facilities are said to be manifestly inadequate, and the Government's aim is to extend them and make them available to every member of the community standing in need of them.—Reuter.
