The spokesman recalled that the French Government in October last year had voluntarily promised to prohibit the transit of China-bound arms through its Far Eastern possessions.

Chinese junks carrying arms and ammunition from Hongkong French Indo-China or other French territory bordering on China were being seized by Japanese naval patrols enforcing "the blockade" against Chinese shipping, "peaceful the spokesman said.

Molestation to be Stopped London, Nov. 10, Authoritative circles believe that France has agreed to accept parallel action by Great Britain and the United States in the event that French shipping is molested Japanese naval units, It is emphasized, however, that the agreement is entirely informal and does not commit the United States to any further step, apart from a protest to Tokyo shortly after Britain Protests, if Japan takes any action against French shipping.

The agreement arises out of Japan's protests to France against Permitting shipments of war munitions to China from French Indo-China and a warning that unless Paris takes action to prevent this, "adequate measures" will be taken by Japan herself—United Press.
