Branches Peiping, Apr. 15. A branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of China will be opened in Tsinan shortly, according to Chinese reports. Mr. Wang Shih-ching, Governor of the Bank, who left here for Tsinan several days ago, is expected to return soon. Mr. Hsieh Chu-yuan, manager of the branch bank in Tsinan, has gone to Tsingtao to make preparations for the opening of another branch there. In addition to branches in Tsinan and Tsingtao, the head office here is contemplating opening others in Shihchiachwang and Tangshan.—Reuter, loss is indeed sorely felt by all of us. There is at present no representative of the China Society for the Protection of Animals on the executive committee, but we hope that in due course we may be able to fill the vacancy caused by Mr. Changs lomented death.
The value of the ambulance which Lord Austin so generously presented io the Society in 1937 has proved to be beyond all measure. Although this ambulance has the chassis of an Austin Seven only, it was found possible on one occasion, when the Work of rescue was being carried out in the war zone, to load it with four goats, a chow dog, a cat, two adult foreigners and a four-year old Chinese boy, which I feel sure you will agree does great credit to its manufacturers.
