Mayfair Notebook

London, Oct. 21.

Princess Elizabeth's very natural regret at leaving Scotland, where she ard her family have spent a long and pleasant summer holiday, must have been tempered with excitement at the thought of returning to Buckingham Palace. It is sad when holidays come to an end, but not so bad when there is a present awaiting one at home, and such a present as a pedigree Arab pony.

This pony was chosen from among those which the ruler of Saudi Arabia sent to the King some time ago. It was brought up from Windsor to the Palace mews, which is a favourite haunt with the Princess, to await her arrival from Scotland, Although she can already ride, for this is not the first pony she possessed, she is going to have lessons with her new mount.

The Princess will now have regular practice in jumping and advanced equitation at a big riding school near the Palace, instead of having to make comparatively infrequent visits to Windsor for her riding. She is already in love with her new pony which has a reputation for perfect manners and a sweet disposition.
