In Messrs, Grigorieff & Co.'s showrooms at 860-864 Avenue Joffre, just next door to the Cathay Theatre, you may make the best of both worlds—by which is not meant this world and the next, but those of the two hemispheres, the east and west. For on Messrs. Grigorieff converge packages by every mail containing the latest that Fashion has to offer from. the capitals of Europe and from New York. On one of these bright mornings, with the sun shining on wide and cheerful Avenue Joffre, a most agreeable tonic can be taken by paying this firm a visit. They have wool materials in all the latest colours, gloves, handbags, stockings, and all those delicious and novel ideas which you never even imagine until you have seen them—but which having seen you feel you simply must possess, How To Be Warm Woollens Returning "Winter sports are enabling even the young to be warm this winter. No longer are they obliged to wear merely a sweater next to the skin, or to shiver in cobweb garments over which is only a thin wool dress. Winter sports have, indeed, revived all the old apparatus for retaining heat in the body, and if it has to be made of something special, such as the hair of Manchoukuo camels, it is clear that the humbler sheep will soon come into its own again. Just as sports clothes are now worn by those who are singularly unsporting, so winter sports clothes provide the young with all the comforts of old ladies. They may, under this, designation, not only wear woollen knickers or panties, but these have a wide band round the waist which carries the warmth a little higher Similarly, they may have long woollen stockings. Some of these are made without feet, so that they can be worn over the silk stocking without necessitating a larger shoe, but the idea is the same—the legs are actually to be warm, But the matter does not stop here. There are woollen knee-caps, eight or nine inches long, which preserve from the blast a portion of the anatomy hitherto fashionably exposed. And, finally, woolly bootees are being sold in which people may drive in cars or sit in their own houses and defy even Shanghai's draughts and damp. After heroism concerning cold, it is now permissible, it is even compulsory, to be warm if a reputation for being in the movement is to be maintained. Also the word "therapeutic" is creeping into fashion, and woollen under things are "therapeutic."
